Re: Complaint for violation of No 29 ILO treaty for the ban of forced labour

Dear Ms. Rishikesh,
Our complaint was expected to be discussed in the Committee in the session of November-December
2018. On our correspondence of November 25th and 26th, you kindly informed our Association that
the discussion has been deferred for the session of November 2019 because the Government of the
Hellenic Republic submitted its report only on Friday, November 23rd.

We would like to express our disappointment with this delay. We hoped for a discussion and decision
in a timely manner. Our colleagues, whose human and labor rights are being fiercely violated, count
on ILO, the world protector of employees’ rights.

We understand that ILO is not responsible for this delay. Unfortunately, the Government of our
country has been proven unreliable one more time. This is not the first time that the Government
fails to meet the deadlines, report on all the questions asked, or provide all the necessary data.
Please take into consideration our correspondence of May 10th, 2018 regarding the Government’s
response on our collective complaint submitted to the European Committee of Social Rights. That
correspondence and the attached files will help ILO to understand the Government’s delaying tactic.
We are looking forward to the Committee’s decision in November 2019 and we strongly believe that
it will be another step towards the protection of our fundamental rights.

Kind regards,

On behalf of the President and the Board of Directors,

Leonidas Palaiodimos, MD MSc
Captain (retd)
Communications Manager of ESTIA
